Where to get your digital passport photo taken in London 2023

And just like that, another decade has passed which means it’s time for you to get your passport renewed.

Firstly, make sure you renew your British passport online. The processing time is much quicker and it’s slightly cheaper at just £75.50. My passport was processed in under one week.

Where to get a digital passport photo taken:

Option 1: Photo-Me (booth)

A Photo-Me self service photo booth in a large railway station like:

  • London Victoria Station

  • Paddington Station

  • London Waterloo Station

I had mine taken at London Victoria Station. There are two Photo-Me booths opposite the large WHSmith's near Leon on the ground floor.

Cost: £8.50

Digital photo code: You will also get a digital code when the photo gets printed which you’ll need to type in when you start your online application.

Pros: It’s quick, affordable and efficient. You get to take as many photo trials as you need and the booths are open late at night, so you don’t have to worry about getting to a shop at a specific time. Also, the lighting is perfect and it lets you know if your image is approved (according to UK guidelines) or not before you pay and print.

Cons: You have to position the camera on screen yourself, so just make sure you adjust everything correctly.

Option 2: Snappy Snaps

Simply pop into your local Snappy Snap London store and someone will take your photograph with a professional camera for you. No appointment needed.

Cost: £16

Digital code: Yes, they provide one.

Pros: You have a professional take your images.

Cons: The lighting isn’t very good (in comparison to Photo-Me) and the price is expensive.

Do not delay. It’s wise to get your passport renewed as soon as possible.

I hope that’s helpful. I know it’s tempting to try and take your image yourself using your phone, but it’s not worth taking the risk of having your application rejected and wasting time.
